BIOMEDICAL SIGNAL ACQUISITION AND ANALYSIS USING LABVIEWBiomedical instrumentation is the application of biology based science and instrumentation techniques for research and health monitoring purposes. As 21st century medicine and health care becomes increasingly sophisticated, the demand grows for highly precise equipments, capable of performing and analysing a battery of technical procedures to screen, maintain and improve human health. One such advancement in bio-medical field is our BIOMEDICAL SIGNAL ACQUISITION AND ANALYSIS USING LabVIEW, which effectively utilises virtual instrumentation for the analysis of biomedical signals.
Of the biomedical signals, we have mainly considered ECG wave which is acquired, filtered, amplified and converted into digital form and hence fed into the PC with the help of parallel port interfaces and then monitored, analysed and displayed with the help of LabVIEW, which brings a greater versatility into this application.
Conventional ECG instruments with a lot of clumsy wiring and usage of stylus probe for the recording of signals were not able to reproduce the exact ECG waveform; moreover storage of data was a major concern. Our ECG analysis using Lab VIEW provides an alternate solution to this by providing accuracy and more storage capacity with ease. Further it avoids any shock hazards since proper isolation has been provided.
